Life of Dance

My blog post today is going to be about how it all started and how dance has taught me different things. In dance, I do tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop. Tap is the real noisy shoes that have a piece of metal on the bottom of it which makes them super loud. Jazz is revered to Broadway or theatrical jazz.  Ballet is very slow and steady. Ballet is said to be a combination of choreography and art, lighting, costume, and graceful movements. The picture above is from Unsplash and those are called pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are super hard and you have to train really hard to get them. They take lots of work but are super pretty.  Lyrical is a mix between ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance.  The last one I do is Hip-hop which refers to almost street dance styles. It has a wide range of styles.

I have been dancing since I was about 3, which means I’ve been dancing for 10 years! My family and I moved to Idaho after we lived in Utah, which is when it all started. My sister, who is 8 years older than me, has been dancing ever since she was little too.  After a while of me walking my mom decided to put me into dance cause my sister loved it. I also loved it! Ever since then I have learned so many dance moves and have had so much fun!

Dancing has led me to meet different people and become super close with them.  In dance, you meet so many new people that play a big part in your life.  Everyone in the studio has the same interests as you and is putting in a team effort. I have made so many different people in the dance world. At my dance studio now, we all get along and hang out together. Dance friends are a whole different kind of friends. We take so many different pictures together and spend any time we can together. My dance friends are definitely like my second family.

In the dance world, there is a good bit of inspiration. Dancing provides for you to be your best. When seeing other amazing dancers, taught me that I still have room to make improvements and to never give up. You will never win if you’re not giving your all in dance or in any sport. So dance has taught me, there is always a challenge to improve. Dancing is a perfect sport to always find something new to learn and never give up.

Learning to develop a good attitude about competition is another thing dance has taught me over the last 10 years. Dance has taught me to always have a good attitude toward things. Losing without having a fuss is something everyone has learned in dance. I have built a character that made me a better person by congratulating someone who could have beaten me. Sharing positivity with anyone who has either won or lost against me is also a fantastic thing dance has taught me.

This is the end of today’s blog post. I hope you enjoyed it and learned something new that dance has taught me or you didn’t know about dance.
